"Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb sometimes is criticized for rarely leading the Eagles to fourth-quarter comeback victories the way Peyton Manning and Tom Brady do for their teams.
Sunday night, that changed.
McNabb rallied the Eagles to a 24-20 win over the Chicago Bears by completing 13 of 14 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown after the Bears had taken a 17-12 lead in the third quarter. He finished the game 23-for-32 for 244 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the night with a quarterback rating of 101.6.
The Eagles are 43-1 when McNabb has a rating of 100 or higher, which includes the playoffs. They're 17-0 when McNabb's completion percentage is higher than 70. It was 71.9 percent Sunday.
"I think Donovan did a nice job with (his poise)," Eagles coach Andy Reid said. "I thought he kept everybody calm."
Reid said after Sunday night's game he thinks McNabb will wind up in the NFL's Hall of Fame.
He didn't back off that stance Monday, although a Super Bowl victory would certainly help McNabb.
"I think he's done some incredible things in this league and I think he's worthy of that," Reid said. "I hope he has a few more years left there."
Confident in McCoy
When rookie running back LeSean McCoy was stripped of the ball at the Eagles' 36-yard line, the Bears had the chance to stretch their 20-17 lead in the fourth quarter. However, Chicago couldn't take advantage because kicker Robbie Gould missed a field-goal attempt.
On the Eagles' first play from scrimmage, McCoy took the handoff and picked up 4 yards. He capped the 11-play drive with a 10-yard touchdown run to give the Eagles the lead.
"I think it's important with any back, but in particular with a young back," Reid said of going right back to McCoy. "Especially in that situation, where the game is on the line a little bit and you just show a trust there. This kid has done some good things for us and worked very hard at this game. I felt (the fumble) was a fluke. You can say it all you want, but when you hand him the ball again, you're showing him (confidence).""
