Injured Freeney out at least 2 games for Colts

"A quadriceps injury is expected to keep end Dwight Freeney out of the lineup for at least the next two games, and further test the depth of the Indianapolis Colts defense.

Freeney injured his right quad late in the third quarter of Sunday night's 31-10 win at Arizona. He underwent a magnetic resonance imagining test Monday, but the team did not offer anon the results of the test or Freeney's status Tuesday.

However, a source with knowledge of the situation said, "It's nothing earth-shattering. They expect him to miss a couple of weeks. It's just the quad thing. He's getting treatment for it and we'll see what happens."

Freeney apparently suffered the injury on the final play of the third quarter against the Cardinals. Flipping to the left side of the line in a pass-rush situation, he was bearing down on quarterback Kurt Warner when he was held by tackle Levi Brown. Freeney limped to the sideline, then headed to the locker room.

If Freeney's recovery time is three weeks, he'll miss just two games -- Sunday against Seattle in Lucas Oil Stadium and the Oct. 11 trip to Tennessee. The Colts' bye week follows the Titans game.

Freeney is the Colts' career sack leader and a four-time Pro Bowl selection. He also has been durable, missing just nine of 112 regular-season games since being selected in the first round of the 2002 draft. Seven of those came in 2007 when Freeney suffered ligament damage to his left foot.

Veteran Raheem Brock likely would replace Freeney in the starting lineup, although Keyunta Dawson's playing time should increase. But it will be difficult to compensate for Freeney's absence in the pass rush. He has four of the team's seven sacks and nine of its 21 quarterback pressures."
