Gas is on Griz in game packs

"In an effort to take the sting out of driving to FedExForum, the Grizzlies are offering fans who buy one of the team's 2008-09 Power Pack season tickets a break at the pump as well.

When the 11- and 22-seat Power Packs go on sale today, each pack purchase of $132 or more will include a gas card worth up to $150. The deal is part of a new cross-promotional partnership between the Grizzlies and Circle K, which will feature a number of tie-ins throughout the season.

"In times like this, every day you look at the newspaper and read about the price of gas and the cost of oil. It seems to be in the forefront of everybody's mind," said Mike Redlick, the Grizzlies' executive vice president of business operations. "We want to try to offer fans a great opportunity to pay for their transportation costs. We want to make it as easy, convenient and cost-effective as possible for people to come to our games."

Power Pack prices start at $55 for an 11-game pack and $110 for a 22-game pack, an average of $5 per ticket in both cases.

The 11-game packs are available for the first time in the lower level of FedExForum, with seats available in parts of the plaza level in addition to the club and terrace levels.

The "Weekend Pack" is composed mainly of Friday and Saturday games, while the "All-Star Pack" features contests against the likes of Tim Duncan's San Antonio Spurs and Allen Iverson's Denver Nuggets. The "Big-Game Pack" includes a game with the Los Angeles Lakers, featuring former Griz star Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant, as well as the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Day game against the Detroit Pistons.

The 22-game packs offer fans access to more than half of the team's home games. This year, for the first time, the Grizzlies are offering fans the chance to customize a 22-game pack by purchasing two 11-game packs of their choice.

Beginning today, Power Pack purchases will include gas cards worth between $25 and $150 with a pack purchase of $132 or more. That offer is good through Sept. 15.

"We're trying to make our product as affordable as possible," Redlick said. "The gas is on us."

The Grizzlies open the 2008-09 NBA regular season Oct. 29 at Houston. The home opener comes two nights later against Orlando."
