D.C. not an option for Tinsley

"Ivan Carter, the Wizards beat writer for the Washington Post, called me shortly after breaking the story that guard Gilbert Arenas would miss the first month of the season after undergoing a procedure to clean out debris in his left knee.

Carter asked about Jamaal Tinsley because the Wizards are down to two point guards - Antonio Daniels and Dee Brown.

Larry Bird and David Morway are anxiously waiting for the phone conversation with a fellow league GM that has the two sides agreeing to a trade involving Tinsley. Carter didn't think the Wizards would be that team because Tinsley has three years and $21 million left on his contract.

Carter told me a few hours later that the Wizards have zero interest in Tinsley.

There you have it for any of you that had thoughts go through your head about the Wizards maybe wanting to make a run at Tinsley.

You can also cross Golden State off your list because the Warriors aren't interested in him, either. Miami still needs a starting point guard, but the Pacers haven't had any discussions with them in "quite awhile."

So the saga drags on.

Don't expect Tinsley, who is supposedly healthy, to be at the team's media day on Sept. 29 or the first day of training camp the next day. Anybody that has followed the NBA this offseason knows the Pacers don't want anything to do with Tinsley anymore.

As mentioned here in an earlier blog, Tinsley's nameplate has been removed from above the locker he used at Conseco Fieldhouse and the team's gift shop is no longer selling his jersey."
