"It happens in the NFL almost weekly: A veteran gets hurt and a younger player gets his chance.Sometimes the veteran returns to assume his spot, other times he does not and the change becomes the moment when one player began to descend and the other started to rise.Last week, might have been that moment for Kevin Curtis and Jeremy Maclin. For the second straight game, Maclin will start at wide receiver in place of the injured Curtis. While he wasn't officially named the starter against the Kansas City Chiefs until a doubtful Curtis was listed inactive two hours prior to kickoff, Maclin has been deemed a first-teamer for tomorrow's game against Tampa Bay no matter Curtis' condition. The Eagles listed Curtis as "questionable" with a sprained left knee, but all indications are that the 31-year-old receiver will not be able to play for the second straight game. One clue was coach Andy Reid's decision to give Maclin the pregame nod - one that could prove to be permanent regardless of Curtis' health."I had him rotating in there - yeah, I did," Reid said yesterday. "Just until I saw where Kevin was, he was in the starting position there."Maclin said that he now considers the job his to lose."I hope it is," he said. "I have no control over this situation, unfortunately that has happened to [Curtis]. But I'm going to do what I got to do."Curtis aggravated his knee on Thursday and Reid decided to hold him out of yesterday's practice. The knee has nagged Curtis since late August. He played in the first two games, snaring five catches for 70 yards, but sat out against Kansas City. Last week's bye helped get him back on the field for this week's first three practices."
