Levens took his combination of size and speed to Georgia Tech where he set a school record of 7.2 yards per carry and was voted first team All-ACC during his senior season. Levens was drafted in the fifth round (149th overall) in 1994 by Green Bay, but didn’t get his chance to shine until 1997 when he emerged as one of the best running backs that season. In 1997 Dorsey exploded for 1435 yards rushing, to go with 53 receptions, 370 yards receiving, 12 touchdowns and a selection on the NFL All-Pro and Pro Bowl teams. That year Levens had his best single game as a pro when he rushed 33 times for 190 yards and two touchdowns. After his Pro Bowl year Levens lost most of 1998 to an injured knee, but rebounded for 1000 yards in 1999. He finished his successful 11 year career, which included one Super Bowl appearance, playing with the Eagles in 2002 and 2004, and the Giants in 2003. Dorsey continues to follow the NFL with passion, and displays his knowledge of the game with each blog. See Levens's archive
2009 NFL playoff review
Time to say Hello to the 2009 NFL playoffs. As we all know anything can happen in a one game sudden death situation, which is what 12 NFL teams will deal with for the next 4 weeks if they are lucky enough.

It’s break-out-the-UHaul time
From a player’s perspective there are a few different scenarios that are running through their minds. Having played 11 NFL seasons – including going to the playoffs nine times and being fortunate enough to have played in three Super Bowls – let me try to explain a player’s thought process when the season comes to an end.

Dear Diary, by Plax
Dear Diary, Life has been pretty good to me since catching the winning touchdown last season in the Super Bowl against the undefeated New England Patriots. No one gave us a chance to beat those guys but as Chris Berman would say, "That's why we play the game."

7 Days in a Players Shoes
One of the most popular questions I would get while playing in the NFL would always be, "What's your day-to day schedule like?" Each time I would respond I would get that look that dogs have when they hear something strange and tilt their head to the side. It would be followed by an enthusiastic, "What?"

A State of the NFL address
It feels like a great day for change. Hopefully everyone went out and voted in what will most certainly be one of the most historical presidential races of our time. In the spirit of Election Day, let's take a vote on the current state of the NFL at the midway point of the 2008 season.

In light of what happened in San Francisco over the weekend with new head coach Mike Singletary and third-year tight end Vernon Davis, I felt compelled to delve into this subject a little further.

An apple and a bus ticket: The player-coach relationship
By now, there must be a ton of people wondering how a team like the Dallas Cowboys - a team with 13 Pro Bowl players a year ago - can have so many problems on the football field. While there are a lot of issues we could talk about, let's focus on the relationship between the coach and the player, or at least the perception of it.

Big Trouble in Big D
At 4-2, there is no need for the Dallas Cowboys to push the panic button yet but a few anxiety meds may be needed. Add in some anti-inflammatory tablets for the players and anti-ulcer medicine for owner Jerry Jones and that should provide some temporary relief for what could turn out to be a season long problem.

Checking in with the Cheeseheads
Everyone would be waiting to see if Green Bay general manager Ted Thompson (also my man) made the right decision to stay with the unproven Rodgers or if this decision would come back to haunt him.

First Semester: Mid-term Report Card
Head of the Class: Dallas Cowboys (3-1) - Even though they lost to the Washington Redskins this weekend, they still are the most talented team in the NFL. The Cowboys are fast and physical on defense.

Wildcat seen in Miami
I would like to apologize to you and your Miami Dolphin teammates for believing whole heartedly that the New England Patriots were going to destroy you. Even without Tom Brady. I apologize for thinking you probably should not have said the things you did about Patriots quarterback Matt Cassell because if they did destroy you, that would have been a hard pill to swallow.

Will the Real 0-2 Teams Stand Up
Week two in the NFL season is now history and yet there still seems to be a lot of unanswered questions. Are the Minnesota Vikings, San Diego Chargers, Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns as bad as their 0-2 would indicate?

From The Observation Deck
First let me preface this blog by saying it is way to early in the season to determine who are the real contenders and not so real pretenders. So before you start planning your Super Bowl party because your favorite team won it's first game - settle down. We still have 16 weeks left in the regular season, not to mention the playoffs. As the male "New Year" officially starts let me tell you what I observed from this weekends action:

Levens' 7 reasons to stay tuned to the NFL
From Brett Favre to the Patriots to fantasy football, I will break down the top seven reasons you do not want to miss an NFL game this season. Up first, the Dallas Cowboys. Love 'em or hate 'em the Dallas Cowboys are still America's team and Owner Jerry Jones is on a mission to make sure it stays that way.
