Miller was drafted in the 7th round, out of the University of South Carolina, in the 1991 draft by the New York Giants. Miller went on to spend his entire 9 year career with the Giants. He played strongside linebacker for the Giants from 1991-1999, five years as a starter, being a key member of the defense during that run. A neck injury ended Miller’s career when he was still starting and forced him to the sidelines where he still lives and breathes football. With his passion for the game, and unique perspective as a career linebacker, Miller brings a new angle in his blog on today’s NFL offense, defense and players. See Miller's archive

As much as I like quarterback Jay Cutler and wide receiver Brandon Marshall, I believe the Broncos lack the swagger to win big games late in the season which is why I’m picking Mr. Nine Lives himself Norv Turner to pull out the victory and an invitation to the playoffs.

The biggest unwritten rule in an NFL locker room is respect. Respect your teammate’s right to listen to rap music when you prefer country. Respect your teammate’s right to roll up in a pickup truck when you roll up in a Phantom.

What if the NFL season ended today and instead of having a playoff tournament to determine the next NFL champion, it was left up to football fans like you and me. Yes, football fans. I’m talking about a BCS style system to determine the two NFL teams that most deserve to play in the championship.

How many games are the Oakland Raiders going to blow this season? I guess Lane Kiffen wasn’t the problem but he may be putting a little voodoo hex on owner Al Davis and the Raiders.

"Yes, I’m talking about the days before HDTV when running backs like Eric Dickerson and Walter Payton lined up in I-formation and offensive lineman focused their attention on moving forward not kick-stepping back."

Before I even answer the question about the NFL, a.k.a. the No Fun League, denying us our source of weekly end zone entertainment let me first remind you that we are talking about a league that fines players for knocking someone the f$#@ out.

Play-Calling Fact or Fiction: There is a fine line between genius and stupidity in today’s NFL coaching circles. The right player in the right offense can turn a mediocre player into a Pro Bowler, while some systems can hog-tie a guy’s talent.

Once upon a time, not long ago, two running backs out of the AFC West use to strike fear in their opponents every time they stepped on the field. Both had legs, feet and hips as lethal as a bullet ever made and could shoot down opposing defenses whenever they touched the football. Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson and Chiefs RB Larry Johnson use to spend their Sunday afternoons racking up yardage, winning games and making opposing defenses look like they were standing still.

“Parity in sports is defined as an equal playing field for all participants. When parity in a sports league is achieved, all participating teams enjoy roughly equivalent levels of talent. In such a league, the ‘best’ team is not exponentially better than the ‘worst’ team.”

I know a lot of NFL experts and fans are jumping on the bandwagon of the Giants and Titans, hoping each team will use its fast start as a springboard to bigger and better things later in the season.

Who needs reality TV when we can all watch the circus at Oakland Raider Land? Get your popcorn ready Raider fans because not only are you being asked to figure out which side is telling the truth in this drama, you are also hoping this feud doesn’t rip your team in half and cost you a shot at your first respectable season in a long time.

The person who provides the most informative engaging answers will receive a NY Giants hat signed by me at the conclusion of the season. If the person happens to be an Eagles fan, I will personally buy an Eagles hat and have it signed by Keith Byers before sending it to you.

Wasn't there a tuck rule put into place so we wouldn't have to worry about whether or not the QB fumbled before his arm started moving forward? As if the tuck rule wasn’t complicated enough, the NFL has now given officials the right to blow a whistle any time they feel a play is over.

After watching the twists and turns of Week 1 in the NFL, every NFL team has a shot of punching a ticket to this year’s Super Bowl with the exception of the Raiders.

As the 2008 football season begins, I can't help but think about the off the field incident that happened earlier this week in Jacksonville involving Richard Collier and Kenneth Pettway. It seems as though these incidents are becoming more prevalent with pro athletes, dating back to the incident with Derrant Williams with the Denver Broncos last season when he was shot and killed inside his limousine.
