"Tigers relief pitcher Joel Zumaya will undergo a test next week to see whether he has any nerve problems in his right arm after he experienced discomfort at the end of a light-throwing session Thursday in Lakeland, Fla.
Zumaya was on a conference call Monday night with the Tigers' medical staff, who decided to put Zumaya through a battery tests next Monday at Dr. James Andrews' institute in Pensacola, Fla. The tests will include an electromyogram, or EMG, which tests for nerve problems. He also will have a repeat CT scan and X-rays.
"And after that we'll have a determination which direction we're going to go," Tigers trainer Kevin Rand said.
Zumaya had pain radiating down his right forearm during the throwing session, Rand said."
