Zack Greinke seemed a little shy, a bit uncomfortable, as he took the podium for an introductory news conference in Angel Stadium on Saturday.

Asked by Tim Mead, Angels vice president of communications, to make an opening statement, Greinke, the 2009 American League Cy Young Award winner who was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers for three double-A prospects Friday, declined.

"I don't need an opening statement," said Greinke, a 28-year-old right-hander who will make his Angels debut against Tampa Bay on Sunday. "I'm just happy to be here and will take some questions."
