"Vince Young took to Twitter on Wednesday evening to bid farewell to the Tennessee Titans and their fans.
"I had a great run with the Titans and appreciate what the organization did for me," he said in one tweet. "The staff was great and I am thankful for all they did."
He followed that immediately with, "To new beginnings. Really excited to bring my talents to a new team."
Hours earlier team owner Bud Adams announced in a statement that the Titans intended to cut ties with the quarterback, who was the team's first-round draft pick (third overall) in 2006.
It was unclear whether franchise officials intended to waive Young, which they cannot do before Feb. 7, or attempt to trade him. Any prospect for the latter would require the NFL and the NFL Players Association to come to terms on a new collective bargaining agreement.
"Truely [sic] love my teammates, the trainig [sic] staff, cooks, strenth [sic] coach [Steve Watterson], equipment staff, big hoss [equipment manager Paul Noska], and [director or player development] tina tuggle for everything you did 4 me!" Young said in the first of four tweets in a matter of minutes."
