"For the third time in three games, the Texans will have a new starting quarterback.
Rookie T.J. Yates, the fifth-round pick from North Carolina, will start against the Atlanta Falcons at Reliant Stadium on Sunday.
Yates grew up in Marietta, Ga., an Atlanta suburb.
"It's T.J.'s job," coach Gary Kubiak said. "I told him and the team that today. It's his opportunity."
For the second time in two weeks, the Texans will sign a veteran quarterback.
Jake Delhomme and Jeff Garcia will work out Tuesday.
Garcia, 41, played for Texans quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp in San Francisco. He was one of five quarterbacks to work out last week when they signed Kellen Clemens to be the third quarterback.
Delhomme, 36, was released by Cleveland in late July. He's been residing on his horse farm in Louisiana."
