"The Yankees will have a familiar face as a backup outfield option for next season.
A major league source last night confirmed the team has re-signed Andruw Jones pending a physical. The deal reportedly calls for the 34-year-old Jones to earn $2 million in base salary, plus incentives that could bring the total value of the contract to $3.4 million.
In 77 games last season for the Yankees, Jones batted .247 with 13 home runs and 33 RBIs. He will give the Yankees a dependable outfield option behind Curtis Granderson, Nick Swisher and Brett Gardner, and could see action as the DH against lefty pitchers — though Jesus Montero figures heavily into that mix."
