"The Yankees may have been playing 3,000 miles away from home, but New York was in their hearts and minds on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
"Obviously we have an opportunity to wear New York across our chest, and we take a lot of pride in that," Derek Jeter said. "This was something that affected the whole country, but during that time right after Sept. 11 when we were playing in the playoffs, and even now, it means a lot to us."
The Yankees and Angels took the field roughly 20 minutes before the first pitch of the Yanks' 6-5 victory over the Angels, lining up down the baselines. The Yankees ditched their traditional interlocking NY hats for navy caps featuring "NYPD" and "FDNY" - hats that will be signed by the players and donated to 9/11 charities."
