"The Yankees were confident that Russell Martin's health would not be an issue when they signed the free-agent catcher.

They knew his 2010 season ended prematurely because of a hip injury, and he had knee surgery after he signed.

But so far in camp, though it's very early, Martin has not been slowed.

"He has had no issues, he has been fine," said Joe Girardi, who observed Martin in drills yesterday. "He has not shown us anything that wouldn't allow him to play every day."
