Brendan Ryan said he felt bad he didn't have more drama for reporters Wednesday.

"I love the attention," he said, "but there's no cast, there's no stitches or anything like that."

Still, Ryan's injured back is keeping him out of the Yankees' spring training lineup for at least a couple more days, he said at George M. Steinbrenner Field before a game against the Tigers.

Ryan, a utility infielder, said he hurt the right side of his lower back several days ago. At first the team was worried it was an oblique injury, he said. The Yankees sent Jose Ramirez to the minors Sunday after he couldn't get his oft-injured oblique to recover.
