Freshman Jalen Reynolds notched his first double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds - both career highs - as the visiting Musketeers earned a Big East victory on the road.

Reynolds finished 7-of-13 from the field and Matt Stainbrook had 13 points before fouling out with three minutes left for the Musketeers (19-9, 9-6 Big East). Semaj Christon scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half and added seven rebounds and six assists while Isaiah Philmore collected 11 points and five boards.

JaKarr Sampson came up with 14 points and five rebounds and Orlando Sanchez and Rysheed Jordan recorded 11 points apiece for the Red Storm (18-11, 8-8). D'Angelo Harrison, the Big East's third-leading scorer, was limited to four points on 1-of-11 shooting and five rebounds.

The Musketeers took their largest lead at 49-39 with just over seven minutes remaining but the Red Storm chipped away, getting within four points on two occasions only to see Xavier answer each time. Stainbrook and Philmore sandwiched layups around a jumper by Sampson to make it 57-51 with two minutes remaining and the Musketeers made eight straight free throws.

Dee Davis and Christon each made a pair of from the foul line to secure the victory for Xavier, which finished 15-of-19 on free throws. Neither team could manage much of a lead in the first half, although the Musketeers held a 29-24 advantage after the Red Storm went over four minutes without scoring only to settle for a 31-30 lead at intermission.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Led by 5-of-5 from Stainbrook, the Musketeers shot 58.3 percent in the first half, but went 0-of-4 from beyond the arc and committed nine turnovers. ...
