David Wright's deal is about to become official.

Wright passed the physical exam he underwent Monday in New York, according to a person with knowledge of the situation, and was scheduled to land in Nashville on Tuesday night. The Mets plan to hold a news conference at the Opryland Hotel on Wednesday morning to officially announce Wright's new eight-year, $138 million contract.

Mets chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon will accompany Wright to the Winter Meetings and attend the announcement. Wilpon's presence could potentially expedite a resolution with starting pitcher R.A. Dickey, who is negotiating a contract extension while the Mets simultaneously explore trade possibilities.
