"Kerry Wood's blister may be healed, but the veteran reliever isn't completely back to his old form in his first week back from the 15-day disabled list.
Wood gave up the go-ahead run in the seventh inning of Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Nationals, two days after walking three, hitting a batter and throwing a wild pitch while blowing a save in one inning of workagainst Washington.
"Woody may still be feeling his way around a little bit," manager Mike Quade said.
Against the White Sox on Sunday, Wood gave up back-to-back singles and a walk and allowed a runner to score on a wild pitch. On Wednesday, he gave up a double to Michael Morse, the first batter he faced, and a fly out to Jayson Werth to deep right that Reed Johnson made a great catch on to prevent it from being extra bases.
Morse advanced to third on the fly out, and came home on a squeeze bunt back to Wood by Wilson Ramos, giving the Nationals a 5-4 lead."
