Wolves say they're standing by Flynn

"Point guard Jonny Flynn was unavailable to reporters after the Timberwolves' first day of a three-day minicamp Thursday afternoon at Target Center.

The same is true for the NBA, according to team President David Kahn, who quashed reports from Cleveland indicating the Cavaliers were targeting Flynn to fill their backcourt in anticipation of the departure of free agent superstar LeBron James.

"Jonny Flynn's not being traded," Kahn said about the sixth overall pick in the 2009 draft.

"At this time of year, everybody on our roster is open for discussion. We're not looking to move Jonny Flynn. At the same time, we're not in a position where we'll say, 'No, we won't talk.' At this time of year, there's just a lot of talk."

Flynn's status was among myriad topics Kahn addressed as the NBA lifted the weeklong moratorium on free-agent signings.

Kahn said the Wolves were pursuing center David Lee, who visited Minneapolis last week after playing last season for the New York Knicks. But Lee's agent said late Thursday that the center was heading to Golden State in a sign-and-trade deal.

Kahn also confirmed visiting with point guard Luke Ridnour on Wednesday and meeting with forward Travis Outlaw, who signed Thursday with the New Jersey Nets.

Asked about Ridnour and the potential glut at point guard with Flynn already on the team and Spanish sensation Ricky Rubio supposedly eyed for the position in 2011-12, Kahn said there is no time to waste in improving the roster."
