"By his normal standards this has been a relatively quiet season for Alex Rodriguez, unless injuries and the poker flap amount to any noise.
That didn't stop the Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network from throwing Rodriguez a Pity Party after he met with MLB officials on Aug. 26. He stopped to chat with the suits about his alleged involvement in high-stakes poker games, specifically a July report in Star Magazine placing him at a Beverly Hills card soiree where a fight broke out and there was alleged cocaine use.
On the air that Friday evening Kimberly Jones contended ("I've learned") the poker game took place Nov. 2, 2009 when A-Rod was playing in Game 5 of the World Series. Previous reports also said the cards were dealt in November."
