"For the first time since moving to Los Angeles about a generation and a half before Andrew Bynum was born, the Lakers held consecutive opponents to less than 33 percent shooting.
Today, they'll find out if adding the 7-foot Bynum to the lineup makes them even better.
Bynum has finished serving his four-game suspension for last season's playoff chop on J.J. Barea and will be on the floor for the first time this season when the Lakers take on Denver today at Staples Center.
"I want to get out there, dominate in the low block," Bynum said after practice Friday. "That's what I'm here for."
The Lakers downed Utah and New York with stellar defensive performances without Bynum and discovered new acquisitions Josh McRoberts and Troy Murphy can contribute some veteran savvy.
"Actually, I thought they played very, very well," Bynum said. "Defensively they did a great job.
"Troy's been a double-double guy in the past, so we all know he can get rebounds and he has the ability to stretch the floor offensively. Josh is giving everything he has every second he's on the court. He likes to work in some athletic plays coming from the weak side, coming from angles he's not supposed to, and making plays.
"They're going to be good for us.""
