"While Timberwolves point guard Jonny Flynn struggles very noticeably in his return from July hip surgery, you might be asking yourself a question:
Where's Sebastian Telfair?
The guy who led the Wolves to a 3-5 record when he started eight games in November is sitting and watching nightly, a situation not likely to change any time soon.
When asked if he might turn to Telfair sometime soon, coach Kurt Rambis said: "Any personnel decisions or rotation changes, those are things I keep to myself. Those are just decisions that I make. I don't feel like I have to explain them."
Wolves president of basketball operations David Kahn was, well, a bit more transparent.
He said all playing-time issues are Rambis' decisions exclusively, but ...
"Jonny is a second-year point guard who's 21, and he needs to play," Kahn said. "Everybody can see it's obvious he's not himself yet: His rhythm, his timing, his explosiveness. However, our medical staff has been very clear, in order for him to regain that, he needs to play. So it's a little bit of a tricky situation.
"It's hard to see how Jonny would turn the proverbial corner if he were not playing, and I feel badly for Sebastian because I thought he played well. It's a tough situation for everybody.""
