Capitals defenseman Christian Djoos took a step toward returning to the lineup Monday, practicing with the team for the first time since suffering an undisclosed “upper-body” injury two weeks ago. It’s unclear whether Djoos will be cleared to play in Washington’s next game, against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.
“We’ll monitor that,” Coach Barry Trotz said. “We’re going to think about long-term with him all of the time. He’s a young player. We’re going to make sure he’s 100 percent. If we feel any doubt, we’ll keep him where he is. That was the first go for him.”
