It appears rookie Darius Slay is going to get another shot to be a starting cornerback.

The Lions have listed starter Chris Houston as doubtful to play in Thursday's Thanksgiving Day matchup with Green Bay because of a foot injury he suffered Sunday against Tampa Bay. That means Slay is likely to get the start.

Slay began the season starting opposite Houston, but was replaced by veteran Rashean Mathis in Week 3 because of inconsistent play. Mathis has held onto the spot ever since.

"He stepped in and he’s played well at times for us this year since he’s been a backup player," head coach Jim Schwartz said Tuesday of Slay. "He’s been an improving player. He’s worked really hard on the practice field and there has been a couple of snaps here or there where he has had to go in and play."
