"The Giants solved their backup quarterback problem Friday night, when they acquired Sage Rosenfels, along with running back Darius Reynaud, from the Vikings for a fifth-round draft pick in 2011 and a conditional pick in 2012. Rosenfels has appeared in 32 games in his career, with 10 of his 12 starts coming in 2007 and 2008 for the Houston Texans. He was 6-4 as a starter with Houston. Last season, with Minnesota, Rosenfels did not attempt a pass behind Brett Favre.
The Giants were in the market for a backup to Eli Manning because Jim Sorgi, signed in the off-season to be the No. 2 quarterback, sustained a shoulder injury during the preseason that landed him on injured reserve. That left the Giants with Rhett Bomar, who has never taken a snap in a regular-season game, as the backup. Earlier this week, the Arizona Cardinals called the Giants about trading for Matt Leinart, but the Giants were not interested."
