Kentucky’s basketball team has raised the bar during the NCAA Tournament, so much that Gov. Steve Beshear is betting his.

Beshear and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker placed a wager on Saturday’s Final Four game, with beer, bratwursts and cheese headed Beshear’s way for a Wildcats victory. Should the Badgers win, Beshear will ship “a fully stocked Kentucky bourbon bar” to Walker.

“The Wildcats are playing their best basketball of the year, and they’ve already taken out three of last year’s Final Four teams,” Beshear said in a news release. “It will be a real treat to see these fantastic coaches, John Calipari and Bo Ryan, go head-to-head, but Kentucky clearly has the edge over the Badgers.

“We’ll look forward to grilling those Wisconsin brats after the Kentucky win on Saturday. Go Cats!”

The Kentucky bourbon basket, created by the Kentucky Distillers’ Association from half of a Maker’s Mark barrel, includes Wild Turkey, Jim Beam, Bulleit Bourbon, Four Roses, Evan Williams, Elijah Craig and Town Branch along with bourbon-related glassware and apparel.

Yes, Beshear sounds confident. So is Walker.
