Leury Garcia's run through the Dominican Republic winter league playoffs ended with a thud on Tuesday night.

Garcia, of the Texas Rangers' organization, was hitless in four at-bats as Escodigo completed a five-game sweep of Aguilas in the championship series with a 3-0 victory. It was the third title in the last four years for Escogido, whose general manager is former major-league outfielder Moises Alou.

Garcia, the league's leading batter for much of the playoffs, had only one hit in his last 15 at-bats and finished third at .354. Escogido's Jordany Valdespin, of the New York Mets organization, lead all hitters in the playoffs at .424.

This likely completed a busy off-season for Garcia. Escogido could add him to its roster for the Caribbean World Series, to be held in Hermosillo, Mexico, from Feb. 1-7.

Garcia had 209 at-bats overall in the Dominican season. He will go to spring training with the major-league team for the first time next month. The Rangers plan on continuing Garcia's education in the outfield in addition to using him as a middle infielder, his position during five years with the organization.
