Darren Helm and Petr Mrazek made their regular season debuts Saturday for the Red Wings.

They could not have worked out any better. Not at all.

Helm scored a goal just over five minutes into the game, and Mrazek stopped 14 shots, as the Red Wings easily defeated the woeful Edmonton Oilers 5-0.

Helm, who only played one game last season because of back issues, scored on a breakaway 5:09 of the first period, setting the tone for a successful Red Wings evening.

Mrazek, who played two NHL games last season and was making his first appearance this season while giving Jimmy Howard a rest.

Tomas Tatar (third goal this season), Jakub Kindl (first), Joakim Andersson (second) and Todd Bertuzzi (fourth, on the power play) added Red Wings (9-4-2, 20 points) goals.
