The Red Wings finally got some good news on Wednesday.

Goalie Jimmy Howard had a series of tests Wednesday and has been cleared to play, said general manager Ken Holland. Howard experienced blurred vision during Tuesday's game in Nashville.

Howard left nearly halfway into the first period, after allowing two goals on seven shots. He was replaced by Jonas Gustavsson.

Howard was bumped by a teammate during Monday's practice, said Holland, but thought nothing of it until experiencing the vision problems against the Predators.

It's not known whether Howard or Gustavsson will start against the Blue Jackets on Thursday at Joe Louis Arena.
