Just when his career was really taking off, Tracy McGrady might be calling it quits.

As a member of the San Antonio Spurs this year, the two-time NBA scoring champion advanced past the first round of the NBA playoffs for the first time in his career. But he told reporters on Wednesday he would consider retirement after the NBA Finals, which begin Thursday in Miami.

McGrady, 34, was one of the best scorers of his generation. Taken straight out of high school by the Toronto Raptors in 1997, McGrady went on to play in seven All-Star games. But team success proved elusive, despite some promising years in Orlando and especially Houston, where he paired with Yao Ming on teams that could have been contenders.
