The New York Giants have signed left tackle Will Beatty to a five-year, $38.75-million contract, according to a variety of reports. The news was first reported by Adam Schefter.

Mike Garafolo reported that Beatty, who turns 28 on Saturday, will get $19 million guaranteed.

Retaining Beatty was one of the Giants' major off-season priorities. He started 15 games for the Giants in 2012 and solidified himself as one of the better left tackles in football.

Beatty was +22.3 overall, according to the Pro Football Focus scoring system. That placed him 12th overall among tackles. He allowed only three quarterback sacks and, according to PFF, no tackle in the league allowed his quarterback to be hit (sacks + hits) fewer times than Beatty. In addition, his +10.6 run-blocking score made him one of only four left tackles to score above +10.0 in that category.
