The Colorado Rockies announced Tuesday that they have made several changes to the coaching staff ahead of the 2017 season. Hitting coach Blake Doyle, bench coach Tom Runnells, baserunning/outfield and first base coach Eric Young and catching and defensive positioning coach Rene Lachemann will not return next season. Pitching coach Steve Foster, third base coach Stu Cole and bullpen coach Darren Holmes will remain in their current roles.

These moves come just over a week after the club announced that it will not retain manager Walt Weiss. Weiss, whose contract ended after the season, went 283-365 in four seasons after being hired as manager back in November of 2012.

Doyle has been the Rockies’ hitting coach since the 2014 season. The Rockies, who play in hitter-friendly Coors Field, ranked second in all of baseball in runs scored last season with 845. They also ranked second in OPS as a team (.794) and their 204 home runs was good for 10th in the majors.
