While Yankees' Curtis Granderson gets MVP serenade, Robinson Cano proves most valuable again

"By now Robinson Cano really shouldn't have to set the record straight for Yankee fans. The crowd at the Stadium spent much of Game 1 Saturday night chanting "M-V-P" for Curtis Granderson, which would have been fine if the fans at least had done the same for the hitter behind him.

Granderson had a great season, to be sure, but come on, he's no Cano.

The Yankee second baseman spent the last six weeks or so of the season driving in what seemed to be all the big runs for the Yankees, to the point where Rays manager Joe Maddon was walking him intentionally even with first base occupied.

Cano has reached a level where he is one of perhaps the three or four most feared hitters in the majors, and may be on the verge of having a postseason like the one Alex Rodriguez had in 2009, when he carried the Yankees to the World Series."
