"Wes Welker thought back and came up empty. The Patriots [team stats] receiver couldn't recall ever having an outside cornerback shadow him all game.
"I can't really think of a time when it's happened," Welker said.
Considering he's the NFL's leading receiver, that will likely change tomorrow at Gillette Stadium. Cornerback Darrelle Revis is expected to shadow Welker for much of the game, setting up a high-powered showdown.
It's an unusual move, one few teams have tried. But the Jets seem prepared to force him to fight his way off Revis Island. Welker has prepared, if that's the case.
"(Revis) has actually played in the slot a little bit," Welker said. "We've cut up about 600 snaps between last year and this year where he's actually been in the slot. And so we'll just see how it plays out.""
