"At the end of a long, blistering Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts -- arriving one by one, caravanlike in their snazzy SUVs -- were present and accounted for.

Reggie Wayne? Check.

Robert Mathis? Check.

Everyone under contract reported, save one unnamed player who was excused from Sunday's activities for personal reasons but was expected to be on hand for this morning's first practice at 8:30.

That included free agent cornerback Deshea Townsend, a 12-year veteran with 80 career starts with the Pittsburgh Steelers who signed a one-year contract. But it doesn't include rookie defensive end Jerry Hughes. The Colts' first-round draft pick had not agreed to terms late Sunday, but the two sides appear close to getting a deal done before today's first workout.

"We are still working on Jerry and we're hopeful we can get a deal done (Sunday night),'' said Ben Dogra, Hughes' agent."
