Warriors sign reserve forward Dominic McGuire

"Dominic McGuire signed a one-year deal believed to be worth just less than $1 million with the Warriors on Thursday, giving the team its only experienced backup small forward.

Rookie shooting guard Klay Thompson will probably see some minutes behind starting small forward Dorell Wright, and training camp-invitees Edwin Ubiles and Chris Wright are promising. But the Warriors know exactly what they're going to get from McGuire.

McGuire, a 26-year-old who has played for three teams in four NBA seasons, is 6-foot-9 with a wingspan of nearly 7 feet and a propensity to block shots. He had 18 blocks in a game at Lincoln High-San Diego, and he was fifth best in the nation with 3.6 blocks a game as a junior at Fresno State - a year after transferring from Cal."
