Standing in front of his cubicle in the Warriors locker room prior to their game against the Mavericks on Wednesday night at Oracle Arena, Jermaine O'Neal was candid and a bit sentimental.

His right wrist is in such pain, he said, that he simply cannot continue without some kind of remedy. He also said he'll see a specialist on Thursday and decide a course of action.

Without going into specifics, he implied there are three options:

One is surgery, which would require an extended but indefinite recovery period.

Another is immobilization, which likely would require a shorter recovery period but may not be as successful over time.

The third would be continued treatment, though nothing so far has curbed the discomfort that O'Neal says he feels every time touches the ball or shakes a hand or even uses his right hand to pull up the sheets at night.
