"The Warriors are close to signing high-flying, pint-sized guard Nate Robinson, team sources said Tuesday.

The 5-foot-9 free agent is not expected to play tonight against the Spurs, but the deal could be done in time for Friday's game against the Lakers. The Warriors, who have 14 players on their roster, don't think they'll have to cut anyone to complete the deal, but they have three non-guaranteed contracts that provide flexibility.

If the Warriors finalize the deal, Robinson could help at either guard spot. Point guard Stephen Curry has consistently gotten into foul trouble, and coach Mark Jackson has alternated in using second-year Ish Smith and rookie Charles Jenkins as the primary backup. Rookie Klay Thompson is averaging 3.6 points on 30 percent shooting in subbing for shooting guard Monta Ellis."
