Warriors actively after Dwight Howard, report says

"The right ankle of Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is officially an issue, one that is going to create an immediate opportunity for Nate Robinson and could end any minute opportunity of acquiring Dwight Howard.

According to a report by Yahoo Sports on Thursday, the Warriors have emerged as aggressive suitors for the Orlando Magic All-Star center. The report indicated that Golden State would be willing to part with Curry or Monta Ellis and be willing to take Howard without a guarantee he would re-sign.

Of course, the Warriors would most likely have to take on Hedo Turkoglu's three-year, $34 million contract in any deal. The Warriors don't have a first-round pick to offer until 2016, and Curry, the team's most attractive trade commodity, is hurt.

"I think it's obvious that our ownership would like to come up with a superstar to add to this team," Warriors general manager Larry Riley said. "We'll always look into opportunities where someone might be available."

In more realistic news, center Andris Biedrins missed Thursday's practice with a sprained right ankle and is day-to-day. Curry won't play tonight against the Lakers and might sit much longer with the third sprain of his surgically repaired right ankle in 16 days.

Curry said his ankle "didn't respond as well as I wanted." He doesn't have a timeline for his return as he awaits a conference with Dr. Bob Anderson of OrthoCarolina, the foot and ankle specialist who did Curry's surgery in May."
