"What does the future hold for Vince Young?
We have been assured by the Titans front office, and verified by Coach Mike Munchak, it will not be in Nashville.
On his personal website, Young thanks Titans fans and Music City for the five years he played here. At the end of his farewell message are the words "Fight Hard, Finish Strong."
Young didn't fight hard enough at times and clearly did not finish strong. The final straw came after he was injured against the Redskins last season, when he unleashed a profanity-laced rant at then-coach Jeff Fisher and bolted out of the locker room.
Young became damaged goods. In the end, even owner and staunch Young supporter Bud Adams couldn't back him. And if you can't play for a players' coach like Fisher, I'm not sure you can cut it in the NFL.
The Titans will try to trade Young and if that fails they will cut him. Obviously the Titans would prefer to get something in return.
Although several NFL teams are in the market for a quarterback, there does not appear to be great trade demand for Young. To get a veteran quarterback in return for Young, the Titans would likely have to throw in a high-round pick.
One trade that makes sense for both teams would be sending Young to the Eagles for backup and former starter Kevin Kolb, who lost the starting job to Michael Vick.
Young and Vick are similar quarterbacks in that opposing teams have to defend their ability to pass and run the football. The Eagles could run the same system with Young they do with Vick."
