"Vince Carter shot baskets on the Verizon Center court late Saturday afternoon, but he was declared inactive for the Orlando Magic's game against the Washington Wizards.

Magic coach Stan Van Gundy learned that Carter would be unavailable at 5:55 p.m., just five minutes before Van Gundy had to turn in his active roster for the game.

Carter has missed Orlando's last three games because of a sprained left knee.

J.J. Redick replaced Carter in the Magic's starting lineup."
