"Gov. Mark Dayton and Republican legislative leaders met privately for more than two hours Friday but reported no agreements on a new Vikings stadium.
"We didn't take anything off the table. We talked about options. We didn't make any decisions. It's all part of the process of refining the various proposals," the Democratic governor said at a news conference with Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch, R-Buffalo, and House Speaker Kurt Zellers, R-Maple Grove.
Asked about Dayton's proposal for a special legislative session before Thanksgiving to deal with the stadium issue, Koch said: "I wouldn't say that we're ready for that at this point. That is the governor's call, and we're just going to continue discussions and keep working."
"This is a complicated process; it's going to take a very creative solution. That takes time," Zellers said.
Dayton said he and the GOP leaders talked about a number of stadium issues, including the three downtown Minneapolis stadium sites proposed Thursday by Mayor R.T. Rybak, as well as revenue possibilities.
The meeting lasted more than twice as long as anticipated. Dayton and the legislative leaders last met Oct. 17. They've asked staff to gather more information and plan to meet again next week.
Dayton has said he'll announce his own stadium recommendation Nov. 7, and he clarified a few things about his position Friday. "
