"Leslie Frazier has a 5-14 record over two seasons as Vikings head coach

Vikings coach Leslie Frazier has been assured he will return next season, a person with knowledge of the situation told the Pioneer Press.

Despite a 5-14 record as head coach dating to his interim stint at the end of the 2010 season, Frazier is expected to enter the second year of his three-year contract with the arduous task of rebuilding the Vikings, who, at 2-11, appear poised to finish with the worst record in franchise history.

The Vikings host the New Orleans Saints (10-3) at noon Sunday in the Metrodome.

In a story published Dec. 5, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf told the Star Tribune that Frazier will "definitely" return next season. Wilf was unavailable for comment Tuesday evening. "
