Henrik Lundqvist was back at practice today after being unable to start or even dress as Cam Talbot’s backup in Tuesday night’s 5-3 loss to the Islanders.

Lundqvist said he was dealing with a stomach flu and said he was preparing to face the Blues Thursday night. Coach Alain Vigneault went one step further, saying not only did he expect to start Lundqvist against the Blues - who lost to the Devils, 7-1, on Tuesday - but he expects to start Lundqvist in both outdoor games at Yankee Stadium, Sunday against the Devils and next Wednesday against the Islanders.

“Right now, we’re not focusing on the outdoor games,” Lundqvist said. “It’s tomorrow, it’s one of the best teams in the league we’re playing and they’re going to come in real hungry and that’s all we’re going to focus on. Even though we have some special games coming up, you have to focus on one game at a time.”

Lundqvist did debut his pinstriped pads during today’s practice, though he said he wasn’t 100 percent sure he would use them in the games. But he said he is trying to show some “respect” for the Yankees’ success by displaying pinstripes.

Lundqvist added he was still regaining his strength from his bout with a stomach illness.
