A discouraged Michael Vick said Wednesday he hopes his hamstring injury isn’t a long-term one.

Vick has already missed 1½ games with a nagging hamstring injury that is healing very slowly and it now looks very unlikely he’ll be able to play against the Cowboys at the Linc on Sunday.

When will he be back? He has no idea.

“I want to get back out there but I can’t” Vick said. “I try to burst and run I can’t do it. Just hoping it’s not a long time.”

Vick pulled up after running out of bounds late in the second quarter of the win over the Giants on Oct. 6 at the Meadowlands. He played one more snap then left the game.

Nick Foles finished the 36-21 win then quarterbacked the Eagles to a 31-20 win in Tampa on Sunday.

Foles who has thrown six touchdowns and no interceptions so far this year on Wednesday was named NFC Player of the Week (see story).

Vick has been participating in practice on a limited basis but said after practice Wednesday that he didn’t realize how serious his injury was.

“It’s worse than what I thought it was going to be” Vick said. “It’s just slow. It’s taking longer than I thought it would.”
