In an ironic turn, Paul George, who chose No. 24 because of his idol, Kobe Bryant, has decided to change his jersey number, ESPN.com's Darren Rovell reports .

While George will not play for the Pacers during the 2014-15 season, he will sell plenty of jerseys as fans look to honor him. George is set to switch to No. 13, a decision that is sure to sell more jerseys as he works to return from a compound fracture to his left leg.

George was 15th in jersey sales last season. He will have to buy all the remaining No. 24 jerseys left in the market, something Bryant had to do when he switched his Los Angeles Lakers number from No. 8 to 24 in 2006.

The change will help George establish the nickname, PG-13. As Rovell mentioned, George talked with Jimmy Kimmel about the nickname when the TV host suggested it would be a solid approach. "That's got a ring to it, PG-13," George said.
