Tight end Jake McGee, who announced recently that he was transferring from the University of Virginia, will play next fall at Florida, he announced via Twitter this afternoon.

“I will be playing my 5th year at The University of Florida. GO Gators!” wrote McGee, who has graduated from Virginia and will be allowed to play right away for Florida instead of having to sit out a season.

The loss of McGee, who led the Cavaliers in receptions last season, is a major blow to an offense that had few playmakers last season. The Cavaliers, coming off a 2-10 season, were counting on getting a spark from a player who was one of its few proven big-play threats and was known for making timely catches.
