"Justin Upton, the Diamondbacks' best offensive player, has left the game after Tim Lincecum hit him in the helmet with a fastball in the first inning of today's game at Chase Field. Upton was pulled for the top of the second inning after he took his base and scored on Miguel Montero's two-run double.
Lincecum was clearly upset about hitting Upton. As soon as Upton went down, Lincecum turned toward center field and raised his head, seemingly upset with himself. Lincecum then walked to the plate to check on the Diamondbacks right fielder, who rose quickly. He was fortunate the pitch hit him where it did."
