"Ike Davis says that his ankle feels much improved after four days of baseball activities, and he believes he can avoid surgery. Having said that, Davis added that if he feels pain again tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that, he'll have the surgery. For now, though, he is hopeful of avoiding it and being ready for this year.
Johan Santana is also here, and will throw a bullpen session tomorrow. Santana will make a minor league start on Friday, and would not rule out making his next appearance for the Mets. If that happens, it will only be a few innings."
