Florida State’s loss is the University of Miami’s gain.

In the wake of Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher’s resignation to take a sweet, 10-year, $75-million deal from Texas A&M, South Dade High School’s Patrick Joyner announced his decommitment from the Seminoles on Sunday night to join coach Mark Richt and linebackers coach/defensive coordinator Manny Diaz as a future Hurricane.

The Miami Hurricanes’ heralded recruiting class of 2018 — otherwise known as #Storm18 — has gotten even stronger with the addition of the 6-2, 209-pound three-star/four-star weak-side defensive end who could play as an outside linebacker for UM.

After Joyner visited UM on Oct. 1, he told CaneSport.com it that “would take a lot” for UM to lure him. But as time went on, he got to know UM’s players and attended games at Hard Rock Stadium. Fisher’s resignation was the tipping point.
